Japanese Highlights Tour of the Library of Congress

On Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at 1:30pm, Eiichi Ito, Reference Librarian for Japan, will offer a special tour of collections pertaining to Japan at the Library of Congress. Conducted in both English and Japanese, the tour will begin in the Asian Division reading room (LJ-150) where he will discuss the history of the Asian Division’s Japanese collection and showcase the richness of the collection to the participants. Then he will escort them to the Prints and Photographs Division, the Geography and Map Division to examine Japanese materials in a wide variety of formats. The tour will conclude with a discussion of the conservation issues of the Japanese rare book collection at the Conservation Division.

Pre-registration is required for the tours. To register call Chandell Butler at (202) 707-5384 or email to cbut@loc.gov. It is not permitted to bring coats, bags, folders or pens on the tours and participants should check these materials in one of the cloakrooms on the ground floor of the Jefferson building before coming to the Asian Division reading room.
