Description:
Yao are one of the many ethnic minorities in China and her South border countries. Its population figures vary between two and four millions. Most of the Yao liturgies are concerned with death, and were used in funerals. Some deal with ordination rituals, marriage, Daoism and Buddhism. These kind of ethnic materials are rare in China. Asian Division has purchased several hundreds manuscripts from a London dealer in recent years.
